Ustādha Hanan Albadâ
Ustādha Hanan Albadâ was born in Upstate New York and embarked on the path of seeking knowledge from an early age. In 2002, she formally began her pursuit of Islamic studies by relocating to Yemen. There, she enrolled in an Islamic university in the capital, Ṣanʿāʾ, where she earned the distinction of being the youngest student ever admitted in the institution’s history.
During her university years, she completed her studies in Qurʾān and the Arabic language. By the guidance of Allāh, she was then led to further her education at Dār al-Ḥadīth in Dammāj — the esteemed institute founded by the Mujaddid (reviver) of the Sunnah in Yemen, Shaykh Muqbil bin Hādī al-Wādiʿī, may Allāh have mercy on him.
By the grace and favor of Allāh, during her time at Dār al-Ḥadīth in Dammāj, she gained proficiency in Arabic grammar, Qurʾānic studies, Ḥadīth, Fiqh (Jurisprudence), Uṣūl al-Fiqh (Principles of Jurisprudence), and various other Islamic sciences. Her studies included a comprehensive study of the entire Ṣaḥīḥ of Imām al-Bukhārī, with selected portions committed to memory, as well with texts such as Bulūgh al-Marām, Riyāḍ al-Ṣāliḥīn, Uṣūl al-Thalātha, Kitāb al-Tawḥīd, the 40 Ḥadīth of Imām al-Nawawī, ʿUmdat al-Aḥkām, Tafsīr as-Saʿdī, along with other classical texts.
She has studied many of the Islamic sciences under the guidance of reputable Yemeni scholars, encompassing both males and females. Among those who played a pivotal role in shaping her path of knowledge was Shaykha Aisha Umm Abdillāh Al-Wādīʿyyah, may Allāh preserve her, the daughter of Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hādī al-Wādīʿī, may Allāh have mercy on him.
Ustādha Hanan has shared her knowledge by instructing classes, lectures, and leading workshops in masājid and communities, focusing on subjects such as Fiqh, Hadith, Arabic, Qurʾān, funeral procedures (Janāzah), puberty guidance, childbirth education from an Islamic standpoint, and workshops dedicated to women and motherhood. In addition, she has provided instruction to young children in Islamic schools and masājid, forging meaningful connections with the emerging generation of Muslim youth.
She has also counseled and provided Islamic advisory to women and youth on various issues, including marriage, divorce, addictions, abuse, family problems, peer pressure, Islamic identity challenges, Ruqyah advisory and many more — offering compassionate guidance rooted in the Qurʾān and Sunnah.
She also homeschools her children while maintaining a profound dedication to women’s and children’s holistic wellness. With a comprehensive background in women’s health, she has trained in midwifery care and earned multiple certifications, including labor and childbirth doula, bereavement doula, childbirth educator, lactation consultant, herbalist, and hijāma (cupping) therapies, among others.
